Blackjack summary for Silver Slipper casino in Bay St. Louis, MS.

Silver Slipper Summary

The Silver Slipper had a pleasantly surprising amount of low limit ($10) blackjack tables available. All five of the 21+3 themed tables were open on a recent Sunday afternoon, yet finding an open seat was not difficult. I had my pick among the four $10, five deck tables and one $25 double deck shoe game. “The Slipper”, as it’s colloquially known allows smoking on the floor, but not at the table.

There was a Blazing 7s stadium-style electronic table game (ETG) setup that also paid 3:2 on blackjack! While the continuous shuffle aspect offers a higher house advantage, this $5 minimum bet machine is great for those learning the game, or not yet comfortable at a live table. The Casino Wizard ETG directly behind this stadium setup pays 6:5 on blackjack and should be avoided.

Hollywood Casino Summary

The Hollywood Casino in Bay St. Louis, MS offered several lower limit options for the casual gambler. There were a few $15 6-deck tables available, but table selection is important here! There were 6:5 tables and 3:2 tables open simultaneously at the $15 level, and unfortunately, the sub-par paying 6:5 offering was similarly busy compared to the proper 3:2 blackjack payout tables. As the Sunday evening grew longer, a $10, 6-deck, 3:2 BJ table became available.

There were several “6-8” deck tables for the casino to squeeze out a few additional points of house advantage during our last trip. None were open to determine the actual number of decks being used.

The Hollywood offered multiple side bet options at the blackjack tables, including a typical 21+3 (3.24% house advantage) table and another 21+3 progressive featuring $2.50 and $5 side bet options competing for regional and/or statewide prize pools.

There was an electronic table game (ETG) near the cage that offered a $5 minimum bet, however the BJ payout of 6:5 makes this a less than ideal option.
